Also known as a comforter cover, a duvet cover normally opens at one end and is fastened by buttons or a zip. These are primarily used to cover a duvet (french for 'down') which is basically a bag which is filled with either feathers or down (or both) and is used as bedding. Duvets originate from Europe. The covers are usually decorative, and people usually have several duvet covers which they alternate between making a decorative feature of the devet/bed adding to a bedrooms decoration.
